Fun Education Ideas for Kids

Educating your child about dental health can be fun! February is National Children's Dental Health Month, so we've been talking about kids on our Facebook page. Developing good habits early in life, combined with regular dental visits, will help children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy gums and teeth.

This month you can get free admission to the Olympia Hands on Children's Museum, which is featuring an interactive dental health exhibit through March 15th. The have lots of free activities for kids this month on special dates; you can visit their website for specific dates and times.

There are fun ways to educate your child any day, any time, in your very own home! MouthHealthy.org is a great resource provided by the American Dental Association, and they have lots of fun online games, videos, and activities for younger kids and older kids. Colgate also offers fun educational activities, as well as a brush chart, to help remind kids to brush their teeth in the morning and at night. Just for fun, here are some two minute videos designed to help kids brush their teeth for the recommended time. Two is the magic number - 2 minutes, 2 times a day! Happy brushing!

  1. A beautiful smile helps in winning a million hearts. So in case you have a new-born baby, then take proper care of his teeth and help him in developing good dental hygiene habits. But this should actually begin before you can see your child's first tooth.

    1. Well said! A child's teeth are present at birth even though you can't see them yet, and it's important to establish healthy habits early. Just gently wipe the baby's gums with a damp washcloth or gauze pad.
